THunderbird Conservation Park

This is an impressive 1,185 acre park in Hedgpeth Hills and has the distinction of being the city's only mountain preserve park. Some of the many amenities here include 15 picnic ramadas with grills and four wildlife viewing blinds which are structures that have seating and allow you to comfortably observe the area's many species in their natural habitat.

Northern Horizon Park
Sometimes, you feel like you need to get out and commune with nature for awhile. You may not realize it, but your dog may actually feel the same way, too. Glendale's Northern Horizon Park offers the chance for the two of you get enjoy some healthy exercise and outdoor relaxation. This impressively expansive area is the city's premier dog park and offers many fenced-in areas and activities designed to assure that your four-legged friend gets some great exercise while staying safe. There is a separate area for larger dogs, too.

Bonsall Park
When the kids start to get restless, get them all together and head out for some much-needed outdoor activity at Bonsall Park. If you have little ones, don't worry, as the park features a separate play space, known as the “tot lot,” for kids from 2 to 5 years old. The older kids will jump at the chance to experience the Rock Blocks, the Triple Racer Slide, the Duo Seesaw the Flip Flop, the Monorail, the Drums Panel, and the Babble On, which will all prove to become fast favorites with your kids, no matter what their ages might be. There are plenty of shady areas as well as benches and picnic tables to gather and rest up between all that play activity.

Sahuaro Ranch Park
Get a double dose of history and nature when you visit Glendale's Sahuaro Ranch Park. This is an historic area that features 13 original buildings that played a vital role in the establishment and development of Glendale as a city and commercial entity. There is also a stunning rose garden and historic orchard on site that are perfect places to enjoy a leisurely walk outdoors. If you prefer, you can relax for a few minutes while you sit on one of the benches and take in the view. This park is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Westgate City Center - WaterDance Plaza
Enjoy the spectacle and beauty of the WaterDance Fountains at Glendale's Westgate City Center. These are beautiful $6 million fountains that feature over 200 lights, 168 jets, 26 water pumps, and 60,000 gallons of fresh water all masterfully orchestrated to create something truly captivating. These fountains were designed by the same team who constructed the Bellagio Fountains in Las Vegas. Spectators can enjoy the visually stunning show that features streams of water being shot up to 40 feet in the air while it is all synchronized to accompanying lights and music. This is one of Glendale's favorite places to catch an unforgettable display of nature and technology, and the best part of all is that it's absolutely free.
